I decided in my late 30’s that I really wanted a college degree. Since I had two small children, I was limited on time and money. I had seen commercials about getting an online education but I soon realized that most online schools were very expensive and I just didn’t want to incur that kind of debt. It was hard enough trying to save for my own children’s education!
After some careful research, I was able to find some options for colleges that offer online distance education courses at affordable prices. For example, in 2010, tuition for a full time student was $12,660 at the University of Phoenix , but only $700 at West Los Angeles Community College and $4,849 at California State University , Dominguez Hills, according to the National Center for Education. Similar to the University of Phoenix , West Los Angeles College and Cal State Dominguez Hills offer online programs!
Distance learning has enabled me to complete my AA degree in Liberal Arts. I love that online courses allow me to take classes that fit within my schedule. Also, with cheaper education options, I haven’t had to incur any debt! I have created this blog to help others learn more about distance learning and to share options beyond the online schools that advertise on TV.
